Description
This event has been canceled as Jane Kirkpatrick's husband is recovering from an accident.
Kirkpatrick will discuss Clackamas County connections within her works, especially in A Light in the Wilderness, her 26th book. The novel is based on the life of Letitia Carson, one of the first African American pioneers to cross the Oregon Trail, give birth along the way, and settle on her claim with her common law Irish husband, David Carson. Kirkpatrick's books have won several national awards and been short-listed for awards including the Oregon Book Award. Her novel A Sweetness to the Soul was named Oregon's 100: 1800-2000 as one of the best books about Oregon published in the last 200 years.
