Description
The Veterans of Foreign Wars offers two scholarship programs, one for high school students and one for middle school students. For interested students, members of the Three Rivers VFW Post 1324 and Ladies Auxiliary will be available to answer questions and proofread entries on Thursday evenings beginning September 25.
Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition
9th through 12th graders write and record broadcast scripts on a patriotic theme. This year's theme is "Why Veterans are Important to our Nations History and Future". Competing for more than $2.3 million in college scholarships. Department winners visit Washington, D.C. competing for $152,000 in scholarships with a S30,000 first place scholarship.
Patriot's Pen Essay Contest
6th, 7th & 8th grade students express their opinion on a patriotic theme in a written essay. This year's theme is "Why I Appreciate America's Veterans". State winners compete for $46,000 in awards. The first place national winner receives $5,000.
