The Cheerful Tortoise is an iconic Portland bar.

The original Tortoise has been around for more than 60 years and has grown into the best college bar and late night Karaoke bar in Portland. We’ve been a sponsor of Portland State University Athletics for over 50 years. Our goal is to provide a cheerful environment for everyone to enjoy.

We offer more than just typical bar food. You can find over 20 wing sauces that are truly the best in the city, breakfast that is served all day, burgers and sandwiches that are so good your mouth will cry.
