End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive and Information Center on Abernethy Green- a portion of George Abernethy’s land claim where many pioneers camped when they first arrived in Oregon City. Recognized by Congress as the official End of the Oregon Trail. You can explore today by starting up the stairs with Oregon Trail Sites engraved on each stair, land on the promenade and continue around on the path to view and read the Heritage signage of the Native American and Pioneer history. The “Oregon Trail Experience” trail starts at the left of the flags where visitors walk in the footsteps of pioneers along the Oregon Trail Experience Interpretive Trail, which features replica animals and landmarks, such as Independence Rock and Laurel Hill. Ending at the Pioneer Gardens where you will find the “The End of the Oregon Trail” plaque. You have arrived at the End of the Oregon Trail and there is more to see; so be sure to stop by the Visitor Center porch and pick up more site information and maps for your next adventure!
